Affordable Lab Testing

functional-medicine-lab-testing-south-floridaAt our South Florida clinic we practice individualized medicine that addresses the root cause of disease. Evaluating the functions of organs and systems in the body rather than labeling a disease and treating its symptoms is the basis of Chinese medicine, as well as functional medicine. That is why we now offer reliable and affordable lab tests that examine blood, stool, urine, or saliva. These lab tests, offered by Robert Herbst AP, Dipl. OM at our Margate wellness center, check for nutritional deficiencies, digestive function, adrenal function, hormonal imbalances, allergies (food, chemical, environmental), detoxification ability and more.

All of our test kits are home kits or blood draw on site and then sent to a CLIA certified lab testing facilitiy.

The affordable lab tests we offer assess patterns of imbalance that can cause symptoms that lead to chronic illness.  It is important to identify these imbalances before they become a disease process that would require medication, surgery, or extensive treatment.

The lab tests we are currently offering include:

Spectracell Micronutrient Density Test – SpectraCell’s Micronutrient tests measure the function of 35 nutritional components including vitamins, antioxidants, minerals and amino acids within our white blood cells.  Scientific evidence shows us that analyzing the white blood cells gives us the most accurate analysis of a body’s deficiencies. SpectraCell’s Micronutrient lab results include an overview page with all deficiencies listed, numeric and graphic reports easily identifying deficiencies and repletion and supplementation recommendations.

Diagnostechs Adrenal Stress Index – a noninvasive way to evaluate the effects of stress on your body. It includes 10 tests for six different hormones and immune markers that may be affected by chronic stress and stress-related conditions. The adrenal glands secrete cortisol in a 24-hour cycle (circadian rhythm), with the highest amount released in the morning and the lowest amount released at night. This 24-hour cycle is called the circadian rhythm. Certain situations such as stressful events, skipping or delaying meals, or sleep disruptions can cause the adrenals to secrete excess cortisol. Abnormal cortisol levels can have widespread effects throughout the body and may contribute to a wide range of health conditions, but treatment options are available if these abnormalities are detected.

Diagnostechs Expanded GI Panel   – The Regular and Expanded Gastrointestinal Panels include comprehensive testing of three stool samples to ensure the most accurate results. We screen for dysbiosis, GI pathogens, inflammatory markers, mucosal immunity, occult blood, and GI functional markers:

  • Culture for yeast – candida albicans
  • Microscopic ova and parasite study
  • Bacterial stool culture to identify pathogenic, opportunistic, and commensal organisms
  • Antigen and toxin assays for Shiga toxin, Campylobacter, Clostridium difficile, Giardia, and Cryptosporidium
  • Inflammatory biomarker levels – lysozyme, alpha 1-antichymotrypsin, and total intestinal sIgA – to detect significant irritation in the small or large intestine
  • Chymotrypsin measurement to aid in assessment of pancreatic function
  • Occult blood and fecal pH testing to further assess GI health and function
  • In addition, the Diagnos-Techs GI Health Panels provide non-invasive, immune detection of specific parasites, bacteria, and food sensitivities via saliva markers including sIgA and IgG.

Diagnostechs Female Hormone Panel The FHP is used to identify menstrual cycle deficits and imbalances in progesterone, estrogen, testosterone, and DHEA/DHEA-S. This panel provides a profile of the hormone fluctuations in a woman’s cycle for test-guided BHRT. The FHP test is most applicable in cycling women with any of the following conditions:

  • Weight gain
  • Functional infertility
  • Osteoporosis
  • Endometriosis and ovarian cysts
  • Fibroids and fibrocystic breasts
  • Increased risk of breast cancer
  • Recurrent cycle-related symptoms and irregularities, such as PMS, migraines, breast tenderness, emotional and cognitive issues, insomnia and spotting

Diagnostechs Male Hormone Panel    By measuring the free fractions of the primary androgens and relevant metabolites, the Male Hormone Panel (MHP) serves as an in-depth way to evaluate the androgen pathway through convenient salivary samples. The MHP measures progesterone, dehydroepiandrosterone and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEA & DHEAS), testosterone, androstenedione, dihydrotestosterone (DHT), estrone, and estradiol.

The Expanded Male Hormone Panel (eMHP) includes all the tests in the MHP, plus follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) to provide a more comprehensive understanding of hormonal abnormalities. Salivary measurement of FSH and LH is a technological breakthrough that separates Diagnos-Techs from other laboratories.

LabCorp Comprehensive BioScreen   This is our most comprehensive panel, encompassing numerous markers to help evaluate the health status of your patient. The following is a list of key areas covered in this panel:

  • Blood sugar analysis
  • Cardiovascular analysis
  • Infection analysis
  • Electrolyte analysis
  • Anemia analysis
  • Thyroid analysis
  • Lipid analysis
  • Liver & Biliary analysis
  • Urinalysis

The thyroid section in this panel is carefully selected to reveal certain essential mechanisms that may be important for proper thyroid hormone synthesis and function. This unique panel gives an unprecedented perspective to the various biosystems with expanded markers pertaining to thyroid physiology.

Total Markers Analyzed: 67 Biomarkers + 13 items evaluated in Urinalysis

Labcorp Comprehensive Thyroid     – Thyroid hormones directly regulate every cell in our body as most basic functions like metabolism, emotions and thinking. This test analyzes TSH, Free T3, Total T4, Reverse T3, Total T3, TPO and Anti-thyroglobulin, T3U Uptake, Free Thyroxine Index (FTI) and Free T4. This panel is carefully selected to reveal certain essential mechanisms that may be important for proper thyroid hormone synthesis and function. This unique panel gives an unprecedented perspective to the various bio systems with expanded markers pertaining to thyroid physiology. You can order this test alone or part of the Comprehensive Bioscreen listed above.
